Honey bees (Apis mellifera L.)
The product is recommended for the additional treatment of the varroosis caused by the varroa mites (Varroa destructor) and the infection with Trachea mites (Acaparis woodi). If it is administered to the bees during the overwintering then it helps to keep the infection of varroosis at a low level. The product helps in the acceptance of the new queen bees in the colonies.
Dosage and the method of administration
For use in a bee-hive.
The package should be opened directly before use. Take out the impregnated strips from the packet, then place it perpendicularly on the top of the frames above the brood.
In a vertically modular bee hive the strips should be placed always on the top of the frames of (upper) brood box. The ventilation should be secured around the strips therefore they should not be covered directly. In case of a cover with folio, a spacer should be placed next to the strips between the frame and the folio, in order to keep away the folio from the strips.
The number of strips which should be placed in the bee-hive is at least one, but not more than three, and it is determined by the type of the bee-hive and the size of the colony according to the recommendation below. The strip(s) should be kept in the bee-hive for 45 days. During the treatment the number of times and durations when the hive is open should be kept at the minimum, in order to maintain the concentration of the active substance in the bee-hive.
Method of administration in case of varroosis and Trachea mite infestation:
NB bee-hive:
- in case of a colony which fulfils at least 4 bee spaces 1 strip
- in case of a colony which fulfils at least 8 bee spaces 2 strips
- in case of a colony which fulfils at least 12 or more bee spaces 3 strips
Hunor bee-hive:
- in case of 1 brood chamber box 1 strip
- in case of 1 brood chamber box and 1 honey super box*
(the strips are placed on the top of first super’s frames) 2 strips - in case when there are 2 brood chamber box, without honey super box
(the strips are placed on the top of the second super’s frames) 2 strips - in case when there are 2 brood chamber box and 1 honey super box*
(the strips are placed on the top of the second super’s frames) 3 strips
½ nB sized bee hive:
- in case of 1 brood chamber box 1 strip
- in case of 1 brood chamber box and 1 honey super box*
(the strip is placed on the top of first super’s frames) 1 strip - in case when there are 2 brood chamber box, without honey super box
(the strips are placed on the top of the second super’s frames) 2 strips - in case when there are 2 brood chamber box and 1 honey super box*
(the strips are placed on the top of the second super’s frames) 2 strips
*Honey super box, from the point of view of the administration of the product, means a super with a bigger amount of honey and bees. In case, when there are just a few bees and small amount of honey in the honey super box, then it can be viewed as non-existent.
Administration during the overwintering:
- 1 bee-hive strip in case of a smaller colony
- 2 bee-hive strips for bigger colonies
The strip(s) should be removed at the first inspection in spring.
Administration in case of re-queening:
- 1 strip should be placed in the bee-hive when a new bee colony is created.
- 2 strips should be placed in the bee-hive in case of a well-developed colony.
The strips should be kept in the bee-hive for 45 days.
Contradictions
The product is not recommended to use during the honey collection, because it can change the flavour of the honey.
Adverse reactions
After the treatment a mild restlessness can be observed in the bee colonies.
Expiry date
The product can be used for 3 years after the manufacturing date. After the opening of the direct package the product should be used immediately.
Storage
Do not store above 30 °C. Do not refrigerate or freeze. Store in the original package, and in a dry place. Protect from direct sunlight.
Package
6 pieces of strip packed separately in a three-ply folio packet (PET/AL/PET PPHC) in a cardboard box. Can be opened.

Any unused veterinary medicinal product or waste materials derived from such veterinary medicinal products should be disposed of in accordance with local requirements
