3. STATEMENT OF THE ACTIVE SUBSTANCE(S) AND OTHER INGREDIENT(S)
Each strip contains:
Active substances:
Thymol 8,00 g
Eucalyptus oil 1,72 g
Levomenthol 0,39 g
Camphor 0,39 g
Other ingredients:
foamed phenolic resin
4. INDICATION(S)
The product is recommended for the treatment of the varroosis caused by the varroa mites (Varroa destructor).
5. CONTRAINDICATIONS
The product is not recommended to use during the honey collection, because it can change the flavour of the honey.
It is not recommended to use the product if the highest daily temperature is more than 30°C.
6. ADVERSE REACTIONS
It is possible that after the treatment a mild excitement, fret can be observed in the bee colonies.
If the product is used when the outer temperature is more than 30 °C, then the bees can be excited, and the death ratio of the brood and the adult bees can increase.
If you notice any serious effects or other effects not mentioned in this package leaflet, please inform your veterinary surgeon.
7. TARGET SPECIES
Honey bees (Apis mellifera L.)
8. DOSAGE FOR EACH SPECIES, ROUTE(S) AND METHOD OF ADMINISTRATION
For use in the bee-hive.
Dosage:
One bag contains 2 strips, and one strip is enough for the treatment of one colony at a time. The treatment can be repeated 7-10 days, according to the level of infestation, but not more than four times. At the end of the treatment, when there is a strip, or the pieces of it in the bee-hive, then it should be removed.
Method of treatment:
After the strip is taken out from the bag, break it into four pieces, open the bee-hive and place the pieces above the bee spaces, in the corners, away from the brood in the middle of the hive. Close the bee-hive. The product will produce its effect for 7-10 days. The treatment can be repeated four times according to the level of infestation.
9. ADVICE ON CORRECT ADMINISTRATION
The effectiveness of the product can be different in case of every colony as a result of the environmental factors (temperature, re-infestation). It is recommended to use the Api Life Var as a part of the integrated protection against the varroa mites, with the continuous of the number of the fallen mites. In case is the level of the varroosis can be observed, then it is recommended to use other product against the varroa mites with different active substance in winter-spring treatment against the varroa.
10. WITHDRAWAL PERIOD
Honey: zero days.
It is not recommended to use during the honey flow.
11. SPECIAL STORAGE PRECAUTIONS
Keep out of the sight and reach of children.
The product in the original package can be used for 2 years.
After the opening the product should be used immediately.
Store between 15-25 °C in the original package, protect from direct sunlight.
Protect from frost.
In order to avoid the possible contaminations keep away from pesticides and other chemical materials.
Keep away from food.
12. SPECIAL WARNING(S)
Special warnings for each target species:
If the product is used when the temperature is over 30 °C then excitement and the increase of the death ratio of the brood and the adult bees can be observed.
The effectiveness of the product can be increased if it is used in late summer, after the honey flow (when the intensity of the egg laying decreases).
The appropriate effectiveness with the treatment can be achieved if it is administered when the outer temperature is between 20-25°C. In case if the temperature decreases below 15°C, then the effectiveness can be lower.
Special precautions for use in animals:
Do not use the product during honey flow.
Do not feed the colonies before the treatment.
In order to avoid the robbery, all the colonies should be treated simultaneously in the apiary.
Be precautious to not place the strips in the near of the brood, in the middle of the bee-hive.
Combine the weak colonies before the treatment.
The treatment should be conducted without a honey chamber box.
Do not place the strips in the near of the sugar syrup feeder, because it can decrease the appetite of the bees.
Special precautions to be taken by the person administering the veterinary medicinal product to animals:
As a result of the skin irritant characteristic of the thymol during the administration of the veterinary medicine product the following protective gear is obligatory for each individual: protective clothing, protective gloves and safety glasses. During the administration the skin and eye contact with it should be avoided. In case if the product get in contact with the skin, it has to be washed with soap water thoroughly. If it gets into the eyes, then it has to be washed immediately with a bigger amount of water. In case of a permanent irritation seek medical advice. If the product is breathed in or gulped down, the nose, the mouth and the throat has to be rinsed with water. If the symptoms do not decrease then seek medical advice. After the administration, the equipment which got into contact with the product should be washed, and also the person who administered the product should wash his or her hands thoroughly. It is forbidden to drink, to eat or to smoke during the administration of the product.
Overdose (symptoms, emergency procedures, antidotes): In case if the product is used in a bigger dose than prescribed, then it is possible to observe behavioral disorders (restlessness, abandonment of the bee-hive, increased death ratio)
13. SPECIAL PRECAUTIONS FOR THE DISPOSAL OF UNUSED PRODUCT OR WASTE MATERIALS, IF ANY
Ask your veterinary surgeon how to dispose of medicines no longer required. These measures should help to protect the environment.
